Arrangements by National Funeral home. ----- Mary E. (Bettie ) Walden was the daughter (b. 1856) of Anthony Blaine (d. 1860) and Nancy Caroline [Bowden] Walden (d. 1863) who lived in Coffee County. Bettie had brothers Uriah Travis (b. 1854) and Chaney Bobo (b. 1859). Their maternal grandparents were Travis and Elizabeth Roebuck (Bobo) Bowden. In 1870 Bettie lived in Coffee County with her great-aunt Sarah (Bowden) Barton. Bettie's husband was from Bedford County, Tenn., where they farmed for some years before moving to Chattanooga. Their son Walter died before her, leaving children Buell and Beryl. Buell died childless. Beryl m. Ray Songer and had at least one son, Wayne. (Marvin Anthony may also have died childless.) Beryl d.1979. I'm very interested in corresponding with any Anthony, Songer or Walden relatives or others who may know more about her family. Her father is my Walden family's brick wall. Thanks! --Joan PS While I'm at it, I was sorry to hear that my last message triggered a spam alert. I use Eudora Pro 4.1 on a Mac in a MicroSoft Express world, so maybe that was the problem?

Vicki, Here are some possibilities on Jacob Lemmons: Jacob Lemmons m. Louisa Winters 20 Apr 1817 in Roane Co., Tenn. (maybe your Jacob's parents?) Vicki, Well I did a bit more digging in the 1860 Census to see if I could find Jacob. I tried looking in neighboring county, Bedford. I didn't find a Jacob, but I did find a James...maybe a misunderstanding of his name? Although this James looks to be a widower in 1860. Just thought I'd send it on to you just in case. I believe the district they are in is along the border with Coffee County. Vicki, I'm not sure when they died, but I do see a William Gooding and wife Fanny in the 1850 Cannon County, Tennessee Census. Brady's Rock 4th District H.H. 192/192 Gooding, William 28 (all born TN) Fanny 24 Richard 8 Sarah 6 James 2 (Also saw an Abraham Gooding and his family in H.H. 172/172 in 1850) Then in the 1860 Cannon County, Tennessee Census I find William with his kids, but a different wife: Bradyville, H.H. 396/396 Gooding, William 38 b. TN Nancy 38 b. NC Richard 17 b. TN Sarah 15 b. TN James 12 b. TN William 8 b. TN Martha 78 b. TN (his mother?) Not sure if this is the William you're looking for, might be too young? But I figured it fit when you thought Fannie died. I would put this Fannie's death sometime between 1850 and 1852 if you assume that William wasn't her child OR between 1858 and 1860 if you assume that he was her last child. Maybe it will help. Vicki, On a search I find there is a Jacob Lemmons in 1830 Davidson County TN, (I search on Ancestry) but I couldn't find his name on the page the index noted. A search in 1840 found nothing, and I tried every alternate spelling I could think of. I know how bad people can be at translating L's as S's or T's, but no luck. In 1850 I found a J Lemmons in the 5th Civil District of Coffee County. He should have been listed on page 2. Unfortunately Ancestry does not include the first 6 pages of the 1850 Coffee County census in their images. Maybe you could find it in an index? Not sure if the pages are lost or if Ancestry just skipped them. Unfortunately the 1860 isn't searchable online. Not much info, but maybe someone with the actual index books can give you a bit more information. According to her obituary, her parents were Joseph & Martha Fults - I don't have any other information. This is my brick wall on this line. If anyone is also working on this line, I would appreciate hearing from you at nina@intertex.net. Thank you, Nina Christmas
