> Did any of your Elliot's marr into the Lemmons line and move to Bell County > TX? > Vicki Houston TX > I really do not know much about my Elliot side since it is such a common name and was maternal I was waiting to get started on it. Here is what I know: Nancy Ann Elliott was born in 1825 in Virginia and had a sister Harriet who married a Dr. Reese. Their grandfather fought with George Washington. She moved to Kentucky, near Fulton. It is thought that all her children were born there. The family connections mentioned are BERRY, WALKER, GREEN, ELLIOTT, GORIN. Nancy married John Sweeney Butler. He died before reaching Texas, where the family moved after the Civil War when the T & P railroad went through. Nancy and John's children are: Ben, Laura Elizabeth and her twin Susan, Martha "Mat", Ford, Cade, Price, Jock, Ferdinand, and one other son. Laura Elizabeth married Mr. Williams and had two daughters: Versia and "Lockie" and later married Mr. Linn Susan married Alfred Walker Martha married Mr. Gorin and had 4 children SO.....to answer your question, there are several ways we could be related to the LEMMONS. Thanks for you help, Donna Millican

Sheila wrote..... > I am terribly sorry. We were discussing the Scott families in Cannon, > Dekalb and Coffee Counties...... etc. Sheila, No, you were discussing your "aunt Elsie who works at the McMinnville post office." However, it does seem that some folks wear their feelings on their shirt cuff, so it is easy to hit and thus get "offended". BTW, I also found the "virus discussion" and the lashing out back and forth, not very productive. Rootsweb has various Virus Detection software in place, and it would be very unlikely that a virus would pass through their server, to someone else on any RW list. The vast majority of so called virus panics are just scams themselves, and not real viruses. But meanwhile, the internet is further bogged down with horror stories passes back and forth between us. MY main problem, is that there are (or was this AM), 175 subscribers to the Coffee list, and I have to deal with all of you. Many are subscribed VIA "hotmail", "yahoo", "msn", "bigfoot" or other so called "free E-Mail accounts". I don't have a problem with that, but most people don't realize that the free E-Mail accounts have a limited amount amount of storage, usually 1 meg or less, per account. Some people do not check their mail every day, so when we have a "roll call" or something similar, their 1 meg fills up fast. Then, as list administrator, I start getting copies of automatic reject notices from the various "free servers". After five of these automatic notices (per account), Rootsweb then automatically "unsubscribes" that account and the person then wonders who had the nerve to unsubscribe them !! We also have folks that are subscribed at their work place and apparently do genealogy research on someone else's time. They don't want their mailbox overstuffed every time they turn on their computer. I guess maybe someone is occasionally keeping up with the number of letters per day, or at least they think that. So, they decide to unsubscribe, at least until the traffic dies down. Since they often have misplaced their subscription/unsubscription letter that was sent at the time of sign-up, they send their request to the list. This of course, doesn't get the job done, but DOES contribute to the list traffic. Eventually, I usually manually unsubscribe them. Often, when I turn on my computer, I have 10 to as many as 25 situations to deal with. I don't have a major problem with "roll calls", but I think we should run our lists, then when contacts are made, and it gets personal, take it OFF LIST to work out the details. I am part of the problem, because I have set the "Reply To" option to default back to the list. Some folks simply "click" on reply to, instead of taking the few seconds needed to type in the address of the person that they are writing to. So, we all get to see it. This works fine, as long as the subject is of general interest to most of the group. I can (and will) change that to "Reply to sender" by default, UNLESS the letter is specifically addressed to the list. Let's try that for a while, and see if it reduces the problems. No one is trying to be "mean" or single out anyone. Let's just try and be understanding of other people's needs and situations. Good luck on your search. -- Jess Lewis (list administrator)

Carmen McDaniel Forbes I got news for ya smart....well anyway....I didnt send an attachment to start with. Further more, I didnt "send" or "attach" ANY virus. Before everyone gets their panties in a bunch - the new virus could be gotten three ways - one of which was going to a WEB page where the IIS server was infected. So it is quite possible that one would not have to open email attachments to get this virus. In addition pretty much all viruses must be out before the virus companies who put out the updates can put out the fix. So it is possible that someone who is cautious could still get the virus. I think all of us should remember that anyone of us could get "caught" with a virus since they are becoming more and more sneaky and virulent. Try not to blame the victim. After all if you got the virus from someone on list then obviously your Virus software didn't catch it either... and if your software did catch it what's the harm? As I said most people do not intentionally send out viruses they are also victims of circumstance. And if they intentionally sent out the virus - well they wouldn't be around to "scold" now would they. eh? So please be a little more nice ... ===== Crystal Wallace mailto:mywebtree@yahoo.com alt mailto:webstuff@planetkc.com Researching: EARP(TN-MO),HARMON-CRUMP-GRINDSTAFF-SAPP-WREN(MO),MCGUIRE(NC-MO-ARK-TX),WALLACE(ILL-MO),ALLEN-BUCK-WOODBURY(ME),LOVE(NY-MI),ISTED(NY or MI),DECKER(TN-MO),JARBOE(KS-TX-MO),MOORE(TN),MORRISON(NE),HUNTER(PA-OH), HEISLER, MYERS(IL-NE), GILSON(NE), STAAL(NE), DRAPER ...more to follow :) :) :) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Wanda, I thought that you were. I spoke with you on the phone one time. My aunt Elsie works at the McMinnville post office. In fact, I gave her some pictures of graves to give to you. I am pretty sure they are your Scotts. I have tried to no avail to connect my Scotts with yours. Sheila
