Hello other Cocke County, TN researchers! I'm at a brick wall with my ancestor. If you can help me I will be forever grateful! I have been told that Thomas L. Smith is listed on the 1860 census as follows: Thomas L. Smith Age 26 Laborer Margaret (Cluck) Age 20 Franklin Age 1 Julia A. age 1 month He is supposed to be the same Thomas (age 17) that is listed on the 1850 census as follows: SMITH Thomas 78 M VA Minister 2000 (of the Primitive Baptist Church) 764-794 Mary 76 F VA I Sarah 30 F TN I Mary 29 F TN I Thomas 27 M TN Farmer Thomas 17 M TN Farmer The question I have is - who are his parents? The Rev. Thomas and Mary were probably to old to be his parents. By the 1870 census (again, I was told this) Thomas L. Smith is not in the household and was presumed dead by this time. Does anyone know anything about the Cluck family? Does anyone know who Julia A. Smith married?
