HI I am trying to complete my First Families of TN application, but seem to be stuck on one ancestor that maybe someone out there can help me with. All of my HARTSELL relatives, up to my father, came from Washington Co., TN, and later, Cocke Co., TN. Here is my lineage: Hannah Hartsell>>Isaac Hartsell>>Abraham Hartsell>>Abraham B. Hartsell>>Arlene Mae Hartsell>> Earl K. Hartsell>>Earl Hartsell (me). The problems seems to be proving that Abraham was the son of Isaac Hartsell. Abraham was born in Washington Co., TN March 21, 1810, married Rececca Laymon there Nov 1835. They came to Cocke Co. in 1838 and have been there ever since. I found proof of lineage for everyone but Abraham. He supposedly died in Cocke Co sometime between 1890-1900 but I find no cemetery listings for him or his wife there. I cannot seem to find any information on him at all. I contacted Larry Fox of Sevierville, TN who has done a HARTSELL CONNECTION family history over the past 30 years, as to where he got the birthdate info on Abraham Hartsell. He related that he got it from church baptismal records (he could not recall which church) in Washington Co. My efforts to track down this information from my home in Montana so far has proven fruitless. I am waiting to hear back from the Stokely Library in Newport, TN as I see they have a HARTSELL surname file that I am hoping contains some useful information. Is there any Cocke Co researcher that might have come across something that could possibly help? I would appreciate whatever help anyone could provide. Thanks! EARL HARTSELL
