I am researching the families of Edom Griffin and his wife Julia Click of Cocke County, TN but have been unable so far to find out who their parents were. Edom is listed in the 1840 census of Cocke but the 1850 TN census of that county gives his birth state as NC. In one census his occupation is listed as wagon maker and in another, farmer. Perhaps he was both. His wife was Julia Click, also of Cocke County, born in TN. By 1860, Edom and family had moved to Hamilton County, IL where the census of that year lists him as Edwin Griffin with children Abigail, Preston Fletcher, John W. and Margaret in the household. All the children except Margaret, the youngest, were born in TN. Julia had died in the period between Margaret's birth in Illinois in 1855 and 1860. I'm anxious to learn who the other Griffins and Clicks of Cocke county were and if anyone is researching these families. Thanks for any help you can give. Estel [email protected]
