    3. Bob, I think we exchanged a couple of emails earlier this year. I've recently returned home from business in the Middle East and thought that folks might be able to help with the information that I had compiled on the Claiborne County Cardwell Clan. There are references that two of the men served in the Rev. War, but it appears that both died prior to making an application for pension.... actually, prior to the point that the law was passed. That leaves only family verbal tradition to state that they were soldiers during the conflict. I have researched their names in the available records in Virginia, but there were several men with the same names (John and Thomas) and it makes it rather difficult to determine actual service. Doubt that I could make it into the Sons of the Rev on any of those records, but I do have a solid line back to Elisha Wallen that should do the trick! Anyway, take care and let me know if there is any additional information that you need concerning John and Thomas Cardwell.
