HARROGATE, Tenn. - James E. Massengill, 77, was born July 25, 1927 and passed away Oct. 8, 2004 at the Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. He was a member of Old Yellow Creek #2 Baptist Church in Middlesboro. He was a lifetime farmer and sawmill worker. He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Addalee Williams Massengill; wife Hazel Shackleford Massengill; brothers, Lincoln, Hobart, Robert and Homer Massengill; sister Ruby Lambert. He is survived by his wife, Goldie M. Massengill; sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Carolyn Massengill, Danny and Kathy Massengill, all of Harrogate, Johnny and Joyce Massengill of Bean Station, Tenn.; grandsons, David Massengill, Brian Massengill, both of Tazewell, Tenn., Curtis Lee Massengill of Harrogate, Jonathan Massengill of Bean Station, Tenn.; step-son, Tony Wayne Hall of Somerset, Ky.; step-daughters, Linda Wesley, Wanda Cunningham and Connie Gregory, all of Indiana; step-granddaughters, Misty Cunningham of Indiana and Rebecca Hampton of Kentucky; step-grandsons, Joshua and Christopher Gregory, Steven Gregory, Jeffrey Schnepp, and Kurtis Schnepp, all of Indiana, and Eric Hall of Somerset, Ky.; great grandchildren, Brandon Thomas, Jordan and Ethan Massengill of Tazewell, Tenn., and Waymon Thomas Massengill of Harrogate; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family was to receive friends from 6 -9 p.m. Sunday at the Coffey Funeral Home in Harrogate. The funeral service was to be today at 11 a.m. inthe Coffey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob White and Rev. Ray Gulley. Music provided by the Yellow Creek Singers. Burial in the Ellison Cemetery. Pallbearers are Olan Massengill, Henry Massengill, Nathan Massengill, Dan Massengill, Porter Massengill, and Dale Massengill. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Robert Mathany and Pat Lambert. She was born Aug. 24, 1954, the daughter of the late Otto and Dorothy Kimble Pendleton. She was a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include her children: Tommy Pendleton, Larry Pendleton, Robin Capps; grandchildren: Monica, Austin, and Kourtney Capps; brothers: James Pendleton, Glen Pendleton, Delbert (Nancy) Pendleton, Darryl (Kathy) Pendleton, all of Harrogate, Gary (Barb) Pendleton, Jim (Paulette) Pendleton, all of Michigan; sister: Brenda (Dennis) Parnell of New Tazewell, Tn.; very special nieces and nephews: Jeff (Amy) Pendleton and daughter Emily of Pineville, Ky., Brian (Amy) Pendleton of Tazewell, Tn., Tabitha Kelley Kaleb, Matthew, Michael, Shannon, Dee, and Jeremy; very special friends: Cheryl Ellis, Amy Younce, Connie Littrell, Marty Edds, Sara, Chasity, Bonnie Ellis, Gary, Wanda, Sean, Brittany, Glen Ellis, June and Schuyler Burdette, Melissa House, Dylan Robinson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
