Ernest (Ernie) Dale Maddox March 3, 1933-July 26, 2006 story updated July 28. 2006 11:12AM COLQUITT, Ga. - Ernest (Ernie) Dale Maddox, 73, of Colquitt, Ga., formerly of Monroe, died Wednesday at Palmyra Medical Center, Albany, Ga. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Colquitt Funeral Home, Colquitt, Ga. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Sheffield Funeral Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Talmadge Worsley and the Rev. Cory Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in New Salem Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, Colquitt. Born March 3, 1933, in Claiborne, Tenn., he was the son of Clarence and Fonnie Maddox. He was a millwright and retired in 1995 from the Ford Motor Co. He was a former member of the United Auto Workers. He was a member of New Salem Free Will Baptist Church, Colquitt. Surviving are his wife, Jewell; three sons, Roy (Jan) Maddox of Gainesville, Ga., and Gary (Debbie) Maddox and Mark (Kim) Maddox, both of Dundee; a daughter, Lois (Robert) Fultz of LaFollette, Tenn.; four stepsons, Tim (Melinda) Davis of Tecumseh, Michael (Mary) Davis of Britton, Jeff Hollis of Philadelphia and Chad Hollis of Lansing; a sister, Gwen Rutherford of New Tazewell, Tenn.; 20 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Glyn Maddox and J.F. Maddox; two sisters, Edna Smith and Trula Collins, and a granddaughter Pepsi Maddox.
