They often shortened their names and gave nicknames. The date for Elender is about right for Ellen. I have nothing further on Elender, unless she is the same as Ellen. By the way, Elender is shown as age 22 in 1860 census and living with her father, which I assume means she's unmarried, which would make her a good candidate to marry Colbert Day when his first wife died.
