She was a retired teacher from the Claiborne County School System. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Carson Brooks; sisters: Lela Owens, Beulah Guy, and Lula Allison; brothers: Fred and Frank Guy; sisters: Mankey and Mellie, who died during infancy; nephews Jerry Allison, Jack, Luther Bob, J.B. and Ray Owens.
