CARTHAGE - Funeral services for Velma Lee Keck Westmoreland, 69, of DeBerry will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at Mount Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dick Sawyer officiating. Burial will follow in Panola-Mount Zion Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mrs. Westmoreland died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, in DeBerry. She was born Nov. 7, 1935, in Okemah, Okla., to Bert and Australia America Summitt Keck. Her parents were migrant workers who moved around after the Depression. She married Tom Westmoreland on Dec. 24, 1952. She was a homemaker and an excellent cook. Survivors include her husband, Tom Westmoreland of DeBerry; two daughters, Patty Bartek and Linda Grinstead, both of DeBerry; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Tom Keck of Manteka, Calif.; other relatives and friends.
