    1. Lectures & Lunch at Gov. William Owsley's House........
    2. Denny sent this over to me so thought I'd pass it along if anyones interested. Subj: Jennings Event to Honor Farmer-Soldier Tradition, May 28  Date: 3/18/05 9:31:28 AM Pacific Standard Time From: [email protected] Dear Sir/Madam:   We are organizing a special Jennings Heritage program up in central Kentucky (Garrard County) for May 28. The program will include lectures,a luncheon at the famous Gov. William Owsley House, tours and a memorial dedication for a new gravestone for Lt. Col. William Jennings (1771-1831) whose heroics during the Indian Wars through the War of 1812 - have largely been forgotten. Jennings commanded troops under Generals Anthony Wayne and William Henry Harrison. A small town is named after him in northwestern Ohio, and the town is sending a delegation to participate.    We discovered his grave was unmarked - and in cooperation with the Veterans' Administration -resolved to remedy that. The new stone and the program will give us an opportunity to review and remember the sacrifices of early pioneers and farmer-soldiers in the struggle to open and settle the Ohio Valley(including Kentucky and Tennessee) and the Old Northwest .   As Edmond Jennings of Tennessee and Missouri fame also lived, (and hunted) nearby for some time (his mother died in Pulaski county on a large estate)-, and apparently fought at the infamous Battle of Blue Lick in 1782, we would like to honor his memory as a pioneer who helped settle central Kentucky as well.   Do you think there would be any interest in your county in participating? We could  possibly arrange a speaking slot on the program. If yes, send contact address and we will send information.   Nicholas Hollis Jennings Heritage Project (JHP)
