I just recently found out my family had roots in TN. I am speaking of Elias Harrison and the time frame being the late 1700's early 1800's. He had a younger brother whose name was Elisha Harrison. Elisha is my gggg-grandfather. He married an Indian whose name was Igha Soo-ko-tosh Baker Harrison. She was born they say in NC and that John 'Renta' Baker was either her father or her adopted father. I have even been told that John Renta Baker shot and killed her real father and then adopted her. Can anyone help me out with the meaning of her name? What is her background.
