    3. Hello, I'm new to the list. Hope there's someone who has some information I'm looking for! Looking for information on my grandmother's family, Darcus Victoria Carroll Blackburn, born Oct. 6, 1873 in Tazewell. What I have been able to find so far is: Her mother was Lydia Carroll (maiden name), born about 1834. Parents Augustus and Margaret Carroll, brothers Henry and Thomas. They are listed in the 1850 census when she was 15 years old. Her death certificate indicats her her father's name was James Carroll, so I'm assuming, maybe erroneously, that Lydia and James were cousins. I can't find any record of a marriage between Lydia and James, except on the Claiborne Pioneer Project page it lists a marriage between "unknown" Carroll and "Lida" unknown last name. I assume this would be them, as Lydia is listed in the 1880 census as Lida. The 1880 census shows Lida Carroll (widow), Darcus (6), daughter and Samuel (9), son. Margaret, widow, also lived in the household. The 1870 census shows Lydia "Clapp" living with Augustus and Margaret, along with Amanda Carroll (13), Cordelia Carroll (9), and Thomas Carroll (5). Lydia was married in 1853 to Boston Clapp, but apparently divorced him or he died. Another record I found listed Amanda, Cordelia and Thomas as Clapps. Don't know if they were actually Lydia's children by Clapp and adopted by Augustus? I had heard that Darcus had a sister. I find only one Boston Clapp born 1792 (?) who married Nancy Fletcher (Flinchum) in 1855. But a record of TVA grave removals shows he died in 1843! Are there two Boston Clapps? I can't find Lydia in the 1860 census, so don't know where she was at that time. There are several James Carrolls but I have no idea which one it might have been. They would have had to be married after 1853 and before 1873, and would have died by 1880. Does anyone have any information that would help? Thanks so much!
