Anna Maxine Newby Published 01/20/2005 July 21, 1928-Jan. 19, 2005 Anna Maxine Newby, 76, of Monroe Township died Wednesday at Mercy Memorial Nursing Center. She had been ill for months. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the Monroe location of Bennett Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Roy Southerland, pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Born July 21, 1928, in Middlesboro, Ky., she was the daughter of Roy and Roxie (Lydster) Bryant. She married Willard Newby May 1, 1948, at First Baptist Church in Middlesboro. He died Aug. 12, 2000. Surviving are a son, Willard of Monroe; a daughter, Marguerite Gozdowski of Monroe; three brothers, Henry (Marjorie) of Middlesboro, Carl (Barb) of Cumberland Gap, Tenn., and Clyde (Jo) of Tazewell, Tenn.; two sisters, Edith (Lonnie) of Middlesboro and Georgie (Ken) of South Carolina; a grandchild, and three great-grandchildren.
