Lester F. Chittum Published 01/19/2005 May 29, 1929-Jan. 17, 2005 Services have been set for Lester F. Chittum, 75, of Monroe, who died at 4:59 p.m. Monday at Mercy Memorial Hospital. He had been seriously ill for a month. Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight and from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Rupp Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Earnest Fultz, pastor of Petersburg Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Members of Monroe Post 1138, Veterans of Foreign Wars, also will take part in the services. Burial will be in LaSalle Township Cemetery. Born May 29, 1929, in Tazewell, Tenn., he was the son of Fred and Georgie (West) Chittum. He married Ruth Dunn. She died Feb. 14. Surviving are a son, Ronald (Sonyia) Arnold of Three Rivers; four daughters, Kathy (Donald) McCracken of Brownstown Township, Ann (Lloyd) Rife of Petersburg, Reba (Luther) Fultz of Carleton and Sandra (Victor) Lieto of Monroe; two brothers, John (Eva Jane) of LaSalle and Bob (Virginia) of Monroe; four sisters, Claudia Bryant of Tazewell, Tenn., Peggy Lou (Don) McBee and Joan Davis, both of New Tazewell, Tenn., and Helen Dean of Atlanta, Ga.; 18 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
