HODGE WILLIAM 'HAZE' MADDOX LAUNA MATTIE (RUSSELL) YOAKUM LIZZIE BROOKS BEELER Lizzie Lou Minnie Brooks Beeler, age 73, of New Tazewell, was born May 8, 1933 and passed away November 13, 2006 at Claiborne County Hospital. She believed in the Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by her parents: James and Mary Brooks; husband: Von Beeler; son: Jessie Brooks; sisters: Linda and Ruth. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Von Lynn and Larry Seabolt of Tazewell, Mary Lou and Rick Lowe of Kentucky; grandsons: Thomas, Justin, Shawn Beeler; granddaughter: Ashley Beeler; brothers: Benny Brooks, David Brooks both of Ewing, Va., Whitt Brooks of Chespeake, Va.; sisters: Bessie and Virginia both of Kansas; sisters-in-law: Hazel Hilliary, Selda Brogan both of New Tazewell; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Graveside services were Thursday, November 16 at 1 p.m. at the Cardwell Cemetery with Rev. Swann Bush officiating. Pallbearers: Thomas Beeler, Dennis Coffey, Paul White, Scott Seabolt, Tim Seals. Coffey Funeral Home in charge. HILLIARY GRIFFIN Hilliary Griffin, age 60, of Tazewell, was born February 2, 1946 and passed away November 12, 2006 at Claiborne County Hospital. He was saved on November 11, 2006. He was preceded in death by his parents: Floyd and Sara Griffin; sisters: Rosetta McAfee Griffin, Mary Miracle, Julie Raby all of Hulen, Ky., Ethel Miracle of New Tazewell and Dora Ellen Lee of Hulen, Ky.; brothers: Grover Griffin of New Tazewell, Dan Griffin of Pathfork, Ky., James Madison Griffin of Indiana, Clifford Griffin of Hulen, Ky. Survivors include his sons: Grover Griffin, age 18, Hilliary Griffin, Jr., age 37; brothers: Sigile and Sally Griffin, Clel and Carrie Griffin all of Hulen, Ky.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside service was Wednesday, November 15 at 12 noon at Tackey Hill Cemetery in Hulen, Ky. with Rev. Tommy Louthan officiating. Songs by Gary Kyees. Hodge, age 88, of Tazewell, and formerly of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2006 at Laurel Manor Health Care. She was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husbands: Alvin Hurst and Coolidge Hodge; daughter: Linda Yeary; son: James Hurst; sisters: Lula Brinkman, Hazel Howerton, Opal Mullins, Viola Hopkins, Maggie Mullins, and Elizabeth McDaniel; brothers: William Stratton, Edward Stratton, and Claude Stratton. She is survived by her grandson: Ashley Yeary of Tazewell; son-in-law: Virgil Yeary ; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Tuesday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel, in Jefferson City, with Rev. R.J. Seal officiating. Burial in the Hamblen Memory Gardens. WILLIAM 'HAZE' MADDOX Haze Maddox, age 86, of Cumberland Gap, was born March 29, 1920 in Speedwell and passed away November 13, 2006 at Tri-State Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was the son of the late George Washington Maddox and the late Margaret Owens Bell Maddox. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church, UAW local 1216 and served his country during WWII. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife: Ruby Graves Maddox; son: Jimmy A. Maddox; brothers: Lawrence and Lester Maddox; sister: Estille Pierce. Survivors include his wife: Bernice Ausmus Maddox of Cumberland Gap; son: Billy Ray (Esther) Maddox of Castalia, Oh.; daughter: Rita G. (Jim) Billman of Willard, Oh.; step-son: Dennis (Lou Ann) Keck of Cumming, Ga.; step-daughter: Carolyn (Pat) Ousley of Cumberland Gap; brothers: Ralph (Dalis) Maddox of Clinton, Verlin (Charlene) Maddox, Floyd 'Can' (Juanita) Maddox both of Speedwell; seven grandchildren; six step grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Thursday, November 16 at 11 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church with Rev. David Fuson and Rev. Glen Davis officiating. Music by the church choir. Burial in the Ausmus Cemetery. She was the daughter of the late George (Pete) and Flossie (Ford) Russell. She and her husband owned and operated Yoakum Green House from 1958-1990. She was a charter member of Lily Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband: Wallace Eugene Yoakum Sr., married March 30, 1937; sons: George "Jerry" Yoakum, Gillis Yoakum; daughters: twins, Pauline and Lorene Yoakum; sister: Lorene Trott; brother: Lee Russell; grandson: Toby. She is survived by her sons: Wallace Yoakum and wife Mary of Kodak, Harry Yoakum and wife Pam of New Tazewell; daughter: Bobby Faye Sweat and husband Raymond of Monroe, Mi.; daughter-in-law: Betty Yoakum of Maynardville; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister: Arneda Horner of New Bern, Nc.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
