Thomas Ray Evans June 18, 1936-Aug. 2, 2006 story updated August 03. 2006 10:56AM LaSALLE - Thomas Ray Evans, 70, of LaSalle died at 7:31 a.m. Wednesday in his home. He had been in poor health since March and seriously ill for a month. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at Bacarella Funeral Home, Monroe. Friends also may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Claiborne Funeral Home, New Tazewell, Tenn., where services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Lawrence Fultz of Lone Mountain Baptist Church, Lone Mountain, Tenn., will officiate. Burial will be in Evans Cemetery, Lone Mountain. Born June 18, 1936, in Lone Mountain, he was the son of Henry Clay and Martha A. (Rosenbalm) Evans. He married Karen Kaye Bunch in Jacksboro, Tenn. A machine operator, he worked for Conrail Railroad, Detroit, retiring in 1996. He served in the Army from, 1954 to 1957. He came to Monroe in the early 1960s from Claiborne County, Tenn., and attended Monroe Bible Baptist Church. He was a member of the Monroe Center and enjoyed fishing. Surviving are his wife; a son, Steven R. of Monroe; two brothers, Bill and Clyde, both of Lone Mountain; a sister, Mary (Al) Banes of LaFayette, Ind., and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Junior and Roy, and a sister, JoAnn Evans. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
