    2. Hoover Cheek, 77 TAZEWELL, Tenn. - Hoover Cheek, 77, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2006, at Claiborne County Hospital. Born Oct. 11, 1928, he was a the son of the late William Jefferson and Ella (Whitaker) Cheek. He was a hard working man who loved his family and friends very much, and people loved him also. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Charles, Luther, Marsh Cheek; sisters, Ollie McMurray, Mable Day; son-in-law, Chuck Jefferson. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Sible Cheek; daughters, Kathy Jefferson, Becky Henegar, Tazewell, Tenn.; grandsons, Ronald (Melania) Jefferson, Germany, Callie (Jennisy) Harmon, Cleveland, Tenn.; special granddaughter, Carrie Henegar; two step-granddaughters, three step-grandsons, two great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters; brother, James Cheek, Tazewell; special family, Rebecca Edmondson of New Tazewell, Greg and Star Henegar and daughters, Tazewell, Karen Henegar, New Tazewell, Johnny Henegar, LaFollette, Tenn.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, at Coffey Funeral Home, Tazewell Chapel, with the Rev. Jackie Daniels presiding. Music will be by the Liberty Quartet. Burial will be in Grantham Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Henegar, Callie Harmon, John Houston, Jason Loope, Frank Welch, and Ricky Hurst. Alvin Davis Reece Sr., 85 (Picture on website) Tazewell, Tenn. - Alvin Davis Reece Sr., 85, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2006, at Claiborne County Hospital. Born April 3, 1921, in Howard's Quarter, he was the son of the late Hiram and Ida Davis Reece. A member of New Tazewell First Baptist Church, he founded Reece Funeral Home and Reece Monument Company, and served his country in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the Evening Star Masonic Lodge #180, Tazewell Chapter Order of Eastern Star #232, Royal Arch Masons #162, Kerbela Temple Shriners, Tennessee Funeral Directors for 55 years, Junior Order of the Mechanics, American Legion, and was also a former member of many local associations. He loved his family and friends deeply, was greatly loved in return, and will be sadly missed by many. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by granddaughter, Wendy Traci Gibson Posey; brother, Woodrow Reece; and sister, Lucille Kornack. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Bobbie Dalton Reece, Tazewell; sons, Alvin “Davis” Reece Jr. and wife, Rebecca Rose Reece, Harrogate, Tenn., and Mike Reece and wife Alma Poore Reece, New Tazewell, Tenn.; daughter, Sunny Sue Bunch and husband, Dennis Bunch, Tazewell; grandchildren and spouses, Alvin Davis “Davy” Reece III and April Reece, Michael D. and Jody Reece, Travis and Heather Gibson, Amy Rose Reece and Salyer Keeney, Robert B. and Heather Reece, and Zachary Madison Reece Bunch; great-grandchildren, Alan Michael, Wesley, Alex, Jocelyn, and Ryan Tipton; and many special friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2006, at Reece Valley Chapel with the Rev. Gary Miller and the Rev. Kim Collinsworth officiating. Music will be by Kris, Phillip, Scott and Alan. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Military rites will be presented at the graveside by the Veterans United Honor Guard. Born May 13, 1940, in Bell County, she was the daughter of the late Ross Lee and Jeanette Hansard Clark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Lindsey, and Ann Mason. William Chester “Bill” Hunter TAZEWELL, Tenn. - William Chester “Bill” Hunter, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2006, at Claiborne County Hospital. Born Nov. 27, 1966, he worked as a police officer for 15 years. The love he had for his job showed in the dedication and commitment each day he remained on the force. Even after he retired, he never lost the passion of returning to work as an officer. He enjoyed spending time with his family and best pal “Max” . In 1996, he was named an Outstanding Young Man of America. His unique personality and fiery drive made him the special person he was. Preceding him in death were his parents, Wade and Dorothy (McNew) Hunter; grandparents, Chester and Eva Hunter, and Ulys and Zula McNew, all of Speedwell; and father-in-law and very special friend, Earl Cook, Tazewell. She was born in Dearborn, Mich., on Feb. 4, 1914, a daughter of the late Charles and Leona Mink Greer. She was saved in 1928, a believer in the Baptist faith, and had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Loyall. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Johnson; daughter, Ruth Johnson; an infant son; and several brothers and sisters.
