SHELBY JOE NEWBY Shelby Joe Newby, age 84, of Tazewell, was born February 25, 1922 and passed away August 17, 2006 at his home. He was a deacon of Riley Memorial Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the North African and European Theaters, where he was awarded 4 Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, and a Good Conduct Medal. He was preceded in death by daughter: Evelyn Newby; parents: Joe and Mollie Townsley Newby; sisters: Gracie Duncan, Lula Harville, and Minervia Newby; brother: Vernon Newby.
