She was a member of Free Liberty Primitive Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Matilda Hopper Maddox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Charles Berry; brothers: Jack, Gilbert, Haskell, and Edgar Maddox; sister: Ruby Kelley. THOMAS RAY EVANS Thomas Ray Evans, age 68, of LaSalle, Mi, was born July 13, 1938 in Lone Mountain and passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at his home. He has been in poor health since March and seriously ill for a month. He was the son of Henry Clay and Martha A. (Rosenbalm) Evans. He served in the US Army from 1954-1957 then moved to the Monroe, Mi area in the early 1960's from Claiborne County. He was married to the former Karen Kaye Bunch in Jacksboro, Tn. Conrail Railroad in Detroit, Mi employed Tom for a long time as a machine operator. He retired in 1996. He attended the Monroe Bible Baptist Church, was a member of Monroe Senior Citizens, and he enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by parents: Henry Clay and Martha A. Rosenbalm Evans; two brothers: Junior and Roy Evans; sisters: JoAnn Evans, Pauline Richards and Anne Martin. He is survived by his wife: Karen Kaye Evans of Monroe, Mi; son: Steven Ray Evans of Monroe, Mi; brothers: Bill and Clyde Evans of Lone Mountain; sister: Mary (Al) Banes of Lafayette, In; three granddaughters; and a host of other relatives and friends. LAWRENCE W. MADON Lawrence W. Madon, age 92, a resident of the Lutheran Home in Monroe, Mi, was born October 14, 1913 in Speedwell and passed away July 28, 2006 at Mercy Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church and Lodge #27, Free and Accepted Masons. He was the son of Charles and LuRetta (Welch) Madon. He is preceded in death by brother: Carl Madon; sisters: Pearl Evans, Shirley Treece, and DeEsther Medley. He is survived by wife: Juanita, whom he married on May 31, 1941 in Claiborne County; daughters: Carolyn (Kenneth) Baumgartner, Judy Wood all of Monroe, Mi; sister: Clevia Patterson of Cumberland Gap; two granddaughters; three step-granddaughters; four great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren. WANDA TINNEL VANCEL Wanda Tinnel Vancel, age 72, of Tazewell, was born May 17, 1934 in Claiborne County and passed away August 5, 2006 at UT hospital. She was the daughter of the late Stephen and Pearl Jones Tinnel. She lived much of her life in Claiborne County but spent 30 years in Indiana raising her family. She was a member of Blairs Creek Baptist Church. She loved her grandchildren, gardening, crocheting, cooking, and animals. Survivors include husband: Joe Vancel of Tazewell; sons and spouses: Gary Joe and Brenda Vancel, Larry Anthony and Jolene Vancel, Ingraham "Mike" and Linda Vancel; daughters and spouses: Sandra Kay and Steve Patchett, Janet Lynn Grubbs all of Lafayette, In; brothers: Earnest Tinnel, Audie Tinnel both of Speedwell, Tn, Tommy Tinnel of Milan, Oh; sisters: Roxie Carter of Monroe, Mi, Neva "Sis" Graves of Lafollette; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; dog: Sugar.
