Cathy G. Smith Steven Ray Surber II Cathy G. Smith, 51 SPEEDWELL, Tenn. - Cathy G. Smith, 51, passed away Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. Born Dec. 24, 1954, she was he daughter of Ernest and Oma Gay Robinette of Speedwell, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ricky Prater. Survivors include her husband, Rodney Smith, Speedwell; son Rodney (Samantha) Smith II, Speedwell; daughter, Robin Smith, Speedwell; granddaughter, Lexi Smith, Speedwell; brothers, Hadsol (Anna) Prater, Matewan, W.Va., David (Pam) Robinette, Tazewell, Tenn.; sisters, Tiny (Keith) Abbott, Patty (Jason) Tusic, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Coffey Funeral Home, Harrogate Chapel, with the Rev. Larry Collins presiding. Music will be provided by Darlene Collins. Burial will be in Meyers Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keith Abbott, Jason Tusic, Rick Robinette, Eric Robinette, Jay Carrelli, Charlie Preece, Joe Preece, and Matt Williamson. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Coffey Funeral Home, Harrogate, Tenn., which is in charge of arrangements. Steven Ray Surber II, 31 Speedwell, Tenn. - Steven Ray Surber II, 31, passed away Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, due to an auto accident. He was born in Harlan, Ky., on August 10, 1975. He was of the Baptist faith, and worked at Clayton's in Rutledge, Tenn. He enjoyed 4-wheeling in the mountains. He was preceded in death by a very special nephew, Carmon Blake Surber; grandparents, Willie and Julia Mabes, and Armor and Francis Surber; and an uncle, Chester Mabes. Survivors include his mother, Bonnie Mabes of Speedwell; father; Steve and wife Judy Surber of Frankfort, Ky.; brother, Jerry Michael Surber of Tiprell, Tenn.; half-sister, Cecilia Surber of Frankfort, Ky.; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home and Valley Chapel with the Rev. Bob Owens officiating. Music will be by The Partin Family. Graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at The Wilson Cemetery of New Salem Church. Pallbearers are Jamie Mabes, Jessie Owens, Randall and Donald Goins, Timothy Boring, Hoss Mattingly, Josh Holmes, Jessie Leach, and Jeff McDonald. Honorary pallbearer is Steve Oscar Orick.
