    2. Gladys Russell Minnie Standifer Gladys “Granny” Russell, 90 (Picture on the website) SPEEDWELL, Tenn. - Gladys “Granny” Russell, 90, passed away Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, at her home. Born Sept. 1, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Benton and Myrtie McCreary. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by her husband, Walter (Balky) Russell; sons, James Russell, Walter Moonie Russell, and two infant sons; daughters, Bobbie Myers and Mary Ann Russell; brother, Silas McCreary; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Richard and Beulah Evans, and Charlie and Beatrice Goins; two son-in-laws, Bill Graves and Paul Keck; nephew, Dickie Evans. Survivors include sons and wives, Harrison and Opal Russell, Eddie and Charlette Russell, and Milton and Wanda Russell all of Speedwell; daughters and son-in law; Nancy and Hueston Jessie of Speedwell, Katherine Keck of Sevierville, and Betty Graves of Maynardville; a very special daughter-in-law, Sharon Russell, and son-in-law Cole Myers both of Speedwell; 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren; special friends of the family Junior and Joan Webb; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at 1:30 p.m. at Reece Valley Chaple in Harrogate, with the Revs. J.C. Monday and Jimmy Branscomb presiding. Music will be provided by singers of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Ausmus Cemetery in Speedwell. Pallbearers will be her nephews Johnny Evans, Steve Evans, Charles Evans, Gary Evans, Roger Evans and Herman Maigret. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. James Farris, Dr. Burgin Wood, Will Bunch, Bill Sowder, and Junior Webb. Standifer, 90 (Picture on website) Monroe, Mich. - Minnie E. Standifer, 90, passed away, Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006, at 11:52 p.m. at Mercy Memorial Hospital, where she had been since Saturday. She had been in poor health since May. Born Dec. 16, 1915, at Mount Victory, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Rev. John V. and Ophie A. (Barron) Farmer. On Dec. 22, 1934, she married D. Frank Standifer in Middlesboro. They were married for over 70 years. Sadly, Frank passed away March 25, 2005. They moved to Monroe in 1948 from Fork Ridge, Tenn. A homemaker, she enjoyed cooking and baking. She was an active member of Stewart Road Church of God where she taught Sunday School and sang with the Prime Time Singers. Earlier this year the Church presented her with the Mother Of Israel Award. Mrs. Standifer also enjoyed writing stories and poetry, and had several of her works published in the Prime Time Section of the Monroe Evening News and the magazines Good Old Days and Reminisce. She also enjoyed singing, traveling, and sharing stories of her genealogy and her childhood. Survivors include her eight loving children, Bill (Dianna) Standifer of Monroe, Colin (Edie) Standifer of Dayton, Ohio, John (Donna) Standifer of Flat Rock, Mich., Yvonne (Charles) Nocella of Monroe, Joyce Hellenberg of Glasgow, Ky., Frankie (Roger) Kerkenbush of Monroe, Reba (Mike) Maloney of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Sis (Gary) Sortor of Monroe; a daughter-in-law, Rena Standifer of Holland, Mich.; and sister, Lottie Hatmaker of Dayton, Ohio; 32 cherished grandchildren, 76 cherished great-grandchildren and 3 cherished great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Standifer on Feb. 10, 2001; a son-in-law Jim Hellenberg; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, seven brothers and three sisters. Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Bacarella Funeral Home; and on Saturday, from 10-11 a.m. at Stewart Road Christian Ministries Center. Services celebrating her life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Stewart Road Christian Ministries Center with Senior Pastor Sam Luke and the Associate Pastor Sally Martin officiating.
