He was of the Baptist faith. He was a life-long employee of Coca-Cola and member of American Legion, Dewey Guy Post and a Veteran of the Korean War. He was the son of the late William and Margaret Turner Bishop. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brother and four sisters. He is survived by his daughters: Angela (Rodney) Burch, Mary Katherine (Bobby) Johnson; sisters: Lucille (Guyer) Earle, Louise (Lee) Vanbever, Agnes (Ted) Hall; sister-in-law: Wilma (Robert) Bishop; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was the daughter of the late Virgil and Mayme (O'Dell) Heath. She moved to Monroe in 1944 from Tazewell. She was a member of Church of God Mountain Assembly.
