    2. Marion E. Claiborne, age 78, of Speedwell, passed away Jan. 27 at St. Mary's Medical Center Campbell County. He was a member of Speedwell Academy Baptist Church and a 50 year member of Valley Star Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Maude Harris Claiborne; brothers, J.F. and Verlin Claiborne, one infant brother and one infant sister. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Bean Claiborne; daughters, Pat and David Ray of Speedwell, Susie and Steve Bailey of Piedmont, SC, Tammy and Eddie Hoskins of Speedwell; granddaughters, Starla Ray of Harrogate and Stacy Hoskins of Speedwell; great grandson, David Gibbs of Harrogate; brother, David H. Claiborne of Harrogate, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Jan. 29 in the Cross Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Hoskins officiating. Interment was in the Beeler Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Community Baptist Church in Speedwell. Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Vena Mae Ellison, age 63 of LaFollette passed away Jan. 27 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and a retired cashier from Woodson's Super Market. She was preceded in death by her father, Edd McGhee.She is survived by her husband, Curtis Ellison of LaFollette; daughter, Victoria Ellison of LaFollette; son, Roger Ellison and wife, Jackie of Jacksboro; five grandchildren, Abby Camille Adkins, Ryan Ellison, Justin Ellison, Lee Ellison and Little John Lindquist; great granddaughter, Halee Jade; mother, Mrs. Miniphea McGhee of LaFollette; sisters, Ruth Ward and Glennis Thompson both of OH, Margie Huskey of Knoxville, and Carolyn Nance of Lake City; brother, Edward McGhee of McMinnville; several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Jan. 30 in the Walters Chapel with Pastor Roger Lee officiating. Interment was in the Beeler Cemetery. Walters Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Letha Jane Wade Patterson, age 80 of Cumberland Gap, passed away Jan. 25 at the Claiborne County Hospital. She was born Sept. 13, 1926 in Bell County, KY. She was a member of Underwood Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Patterson; parents, Jesse and Easter England Wade; granddaughter, Erica Patterson; brother, Wallace and Wilburn Wade; sisters, Clara Keck, Ruby Thompson, Cleo Crawford, Lorene Bear, Gertie Bowlin and one infant sister. She is survived by her children, Betty and the late Whitt Russell of Cumberland Gap, Wayne and Jane Patterson of Cumberland Gap, Judy and Hillis Turner of Harrogate, Christine and Ray Fleeman of New Tazewell, Daphine and Lloyd Sandefur of Harrogate, Kathleen McNew of New Tazewell; grandchildren, Greg Centers, Chris Centers, Autumn Williams, Courtney Turner, Corey Sandefur, Stephanie Ridenour and Deanna North; 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Jan. 28 at the Underwood Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Marvin Simmons and Rev. Lloyd Sandefur officiating. Interment was in the Russell Cemetery.
