Hi. Does anyone have any information on the identification of George HOOVER, whose will is shown below. He died in Campbell County, Tn, but I suspect he was originally from LEE County, VA. Your petitioner Fredrick SMITH a citizen of CAMPBELL County and State of Tennessee humbly representing states to your honorable body that about ten years the 24th of July last he was married to Nancy HOOVER who at that time was a Widdow and had lived in CAMPBELL County for some years previous to there intermariage. Your Petitioner states that at the time he was married to said Nancy then HOOVER but now SMITH that he was young and now much experienced in the affairs of the world that the motives which induced him to marry were entirely honorable and such as does or ought to govern all young men in making contracts of such importance your petitioner states that he lived with his wife Nancy about three years before the imoral practices of which he is now satisfied made themselves to manifest as to induce your petitioner to think of leaving her, but unwilling to expose the improprities of a person that was his lawful wife before bore showing any more disatisfaction than he could well help, believing she would eventually do better for the space of four years more but contrary to the expectations of your petioner in stead of his wife's reforming she dayly grew worse and became bolder more hardened and less disposed to act with propiety that she had bean so much so that your petitioner caught her in the woods with another man twist before your petitioner concluded to leave her, but a few daus after the last time he caught her with another man he resolved to leave his said wife, believing from the languge she used to your petitioner when he caught her that there was no longer any reason to suppose she would reform she stated to your petitioner "that he had caught her but htat she had bean with the man with whom she was caught and would be again." Your petitioner states that after the before mentioned conduct of his wfie he left her for a few months and from her solicitations and professiones he attempted again to live with her but before he had lived but a little while with her he caught her at the same improper conduct with other men, thus was your petitioner harassed and bedeviled with his said wife for some months, some times trying to live with her and sometimes apart, until he concluded to apply; to the correct court of CAMPBELL County for a divorce and when his said wife understood that your petitioner had made application for a divorce she came to your petitioner and pledged her self that she would do better so strongly together with the entreaties of other persons that your petitioner desisted from trying to get a divorce and concluded to try once more to live with her but by the time your petitoner had lived six or seven months with her he discovered that she was farther gone in vice that before so much so that the two last nites before your petitioner left her the last time his said wife Nancy SMITH had the hardihood to lay all nite in the same bed with a man of the name Samuel CRABTREE in the house of your petitioner and in his presence your petitioner would beg leave further to state to your honorable body that his said wife is now living in open and notorious loodness in this county with the aforesaid Samuel CRABTREE is her own sisters son and that on indictment has bean found against them for so livng and they refuse to be taken.
