Spoons, 88, of Monroe, who died at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at Medilodge of Monroe. She had been ill since April. Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight at Rupp Funeral Home, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Roy Southerland, pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Born Feb. 15, 1918, in Tazewell, Tenn., she was the daughter of John C. and Bessie (Dixon) Bradford. She was a Monroe beautician for many years and also had been a songwriter for Majestic Records Countrywine Publishing, Leaden, Texas. She was a salesperson for Groulx Oldsmobile of Monroe. She was a member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed playing music for the Monroe Center. Surviving are a brother, Odra L. of Monroe, and a sister, Lois (Ralph) Beason of Monroe. She was preceded in death by her husband. Memorials may be made to Monroe Missionary Baptist Church. Services were held Jan. 18 at Claiborne Funeral Home, New Tazewell, Tenn. The Rev. Doyle Dalton officiated. Burial was in Clement Cemetery, New Tazewell. Born Feb. 24, 1944, she was the daughter of Wannie and Mossie Miller. She married Robert Lynch. While living in Monroe County, she worked at LaFiesta, Little Dixie and the Lutheran Home. She was a member of Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband; four sons, Vent (April) and Victor (Vickie), both of Monroe, Scott of Thornhill and Shawn (Beth) of Knoxville, Tenn.; a daughter, Sheri Faulkner of Thornhill; two brothers, Clyde (Mildred) of Spring City, Tenn., and Kyle (Janet) of Monroe; a sister, Etta Johnson of Tazewell, and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles, and two sisters, Vola Barnes and Geraldine Arnett. Lucille Brooks Sept. 23, 1915-Jan. 23, 2007 story updated January 24. 2007 10:53AM ***************************** DEERFIELD - Lucille Brooks, 91, of Deerfield, whose daughter lives in Maybee, died Tuesday at Bixby Medical Center, Adrian. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Tagsold Funeral Home, Blissfield, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Gene Reitz will officiate. Burial will follow in Marble Park Cemetery, Milan. Surviving are four sons; two daughters, including Carol York of Maybee; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C.; a son; two sons-in-law, including Steve York, and several siblings. Memorials may be made to Department on Aging, Adrian. NOTE from Bette: Deerfield is in Michigan - very close to Monroe. I know her husband is a Brooks from the Claiborne County area, I just don't know where to connect him yet.
