    1. [TNCLAIBO] Moores of Williamson Co., Tn and Lee Co., Va.
    2. Roberta J. Estes
    3. I extraced this from the Lee County Pioneer book. If you descend from this Moore family, please contact me. Roberta Estes The Moores emigrated from the British Emplire to America in the first half of the 17th century and settled in Eastern Va, eventually in what is now Prince Edward Co. Benjamin Moore is the first known of the branch of this Moore family. One Benjamin Moore took the oath of overseer of the poor in April 1789 court in Prince Edward Co. There is no proof that this is the Benjamin Moore who is the ancestor of the Lee Co. Moores. Evidence indicates that a Benjamin Moore was in Henry Co Va during the Rev. War period. Benjamin Moore was in Williamson Co. in 1820 when he made a deed to David Moore of Lee Co. Va. of a negro Nelly. David Moore, son of Benjamin was born 1776-77, according to the 1850 and 1860 census, so Benjamin must have been born in 1756 or earlier. David Moore came to Lee Co., Va. in the early 1800s or before where he married before 1804 to Sarah Cox, widow of William Cox.
