June 12th 2007 955 East McKinney Avenue Rogersville, TN 37857 The Hawkins County Historical and Genealogy Society in Rogersville Tennessee invites you to a presentation by Roberta Estes on "DNA and Genealogy." It will be held Tuesday, 7:00 P.M., June 12th, at the Rescue Squad Building next door to the Hawkins County Archives. Roberta Estes is on the speakers list for ISOGG (International Society for Genetics Genealogy). Roberta spoke at "The Third International Conference on Genetic Genealogy" presented by Family Tree DNA in Houston Texas, and also on the Voice of America. She is the founder of the Cumberland Gap DNA Projects both Y and mtDNA and she is advisor for the Melungeon_DNA Projects. Roberta has ancestors in Hawkins, Hancock, Claiborne and surrounding counties, and other areas of central Appalachia. She will explain about the different DNA tests and how to use them with genealogy, and show the importance of testing mtDNA, the female line. Kits will be available.
