    1. [TNCLAIBO] Cleveland Library.
    2. I'm going to be passing through Cleveland TN in a week or so. I have heard that the library there has books on Claiborne County deaths from 1930 to 1946. I would love to browse these books for information on my gg-grandfather William Shoop. My question is, can anyone on this list give me specific directions to the library? I'm coming from Florida and have no knowledge of that area. To save list space you may email me direct at (_KYPHILPOT@aol.com_ (mailto:KYPHILPOT@aol.com) ). I would appreciate any help you have. Thanks, Jerry Philpot.

    1. [TNCLAIBO] Claiborne County War of 1812 Soldiers
    2. Roberta J. Estes
    3. Hi cousins, I am currently in the process of trying to reconstruct the months between November 1814 and May 1815 and what happened to our ancestors during those months of service in the War of 1812. The Claiborne regiments mustered in at Knoxville, most of them on foot, and the proceeded into Alabama. By obtaining the records of the individuals soldiers (or their widows) who applied for either a pension or bounty land, we will be able to piece together the puzzle of what happened to them during that time. If you have any sworn statements about any of the following men, the National Archives service records, or know where they moved if they left Claiborne County, I would be very very grateful if you would share that information with me. I certainly can't afford to order them all myself. When I'm done with this little reconstruction project, I intend to share the results, so it's not just for me. I like to know about the lives of my ancestors, not just the dates of birth and death. This summer, I went to Alabama (on the hottest possible day of July) to try to find old Fort Decatur where my ancestor, James Claxton, died. I found the general area, but not the fort. He is buried there, someplace near. I found the information about where he was buried in another man's pension application, so these pension statements together will provide a personal glimpse at those few months of our ancestors lives that is not available by any other means today. Here is the list of men. Please see if any of your ancestors are among them, or if you know of any name misspellings, or info about these folks. - Bobbi Estes John Brock, Capt. Patrick N. 1. Re: [TNCLAIBO-L] A CC friend
    2. Whether you're a Lynch, Goin, Cupp, Ford, Fortner, Drummonds, Mink, or Meyers, we've all lost a really lovely friend and in my case cousin as well in Barbara Hales. I've been sitting here trying to think of something fitting to say about her in between the tears.......... For those of you that didn't know her she was completely paralyzed (I won't go into that here) and typed with her toes and typed better with her toes I always used to tease her than I could with my hands. She was an extremely gifted artist as well which shocked and amazed me when I first met her. After getting to know her nothing shocked and amazed me! I used to tell her when I had bad days all I had to do was think of her and it changed my attitude right around. When she queried me if it was because of her condition, I had to be honest and tell her NO, it was because of her sunny attitude at all times. She was funny, sweet, kind, helpful and most important of all loved by those of us that were lucky enough to know her. When she first saw a picture of me she said she didn't need to know how I was related she just knew exactly how we were because her daughter Tanya and I were positively Twins! And I have to admit we're hard to tell apart. She was a dedicated Genealogist and was always telling me some funny story or another about one of our ancestors. If you'd like to see her artwork and her family photos you can view them at her website: http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?username=toepik I hope all of you that knew her online will take the time to send her family a note via the funeral home website at: http://www.bacarellafuneralhome.com I know it will comfort them at this time to know how wide a circle of friends she had. I know she's finally resting with those she's missed and loved for so long. I'm so sad to see her leave us. Pam In a message dated 9/10/2006 6:39:01 PM Pacific Standard Time, myanya@charter.net writes: Barbara Marie Hales September 9, 2006 Barbara Marie Hales, age 64 of Monroe, MI. passed away Saturday, September 9, 2006 in her home.
