Hello Cousins, Several of you have asked me if there were papers, video, audio of the Melungeon Heritage speaker. I can refer you to the website that Mr. Winkler is associated with..... http://www.melungeon.org/ There are several books concerning the Melungeons on the site as well as research tools and a newsletter, etc., etc. Mr. Winkler reported a very good turnout and alot of people said they learned about it through the lists. I wish I could have made it but it would have had to be a quick 2,000 mile trip. I hope you all will go to the website and browse. Warmest Regards, Pam

I am looking for information on the Joseph Laws (1886 - 1942) and Malinda Laws (1898 - 1929) family. Both are buried in the Hunter Cemetery. I understand they had two sons, Kaywood and Kelsey, and possibly one or two daughters. It is believed the family lived and farmed in the Powell Valley in the general vicinity of the Hunter Cemetery. It is also believed that one of the sons was killed in WW II. My sister-in-law's grandfather was Joseph Laws and she would like to know more about his family. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Dear Cousins, I'm writing you tonight to ask for your help. Eileen Myers (Dusti) who is our webmistress for the Claiborne County Pioneer Project (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ccpp/pioneer/index.htm) has lost everything she owns in a house fire. The house burned down to the ground and every car she owned as well. There was NO insurance on anything. Her husband is very ill as well and is on the donor list for a bone marrow transplant. When it rains it pours! I'm asking for your help especially if you're connected to the Lynch family which is Dusti's family, to help Dusti rebuild all her genealogy files, pictures, etc. If you'll be so generous to share these things with her, I will collect them for her and put everything on CD for her to have when she's ready for it. Dusti is one of the people who cheered me on 11 years or so ago to start this list. And I'm the one who got her hooked up with Denny and Marla Brubaker years back to get all the Pioneer Project Index online for us all. She's helped boost that Project in unbelieveable ways. I think before we went online with it Denny and Marla had 30,000 or there abouts people in their database. Now we have about 100,000 Pioneers of Claiborne County in the database. And 188,000 plus hits on the website of people who have benefited from Denny and Marla's hardwork but from Dusti's as well. If you have any Lynch info you'd like to contribute please send it directly to me and I'll burn however many CD's I have to for her. And if you'd like to help Dusti in some other way I'd be happy to send you the newspaper article and some info on how to help her if that's your desire. Warmest Regards, Pam

Hi Lists, I am trying to find records for marriage and any other for MARY ANN OWENS b:4-29-1874 to I.V. & MARY JANE WELCH OWENS. I have a letter from one of her brothers asking about her and he stated she married a WILLIAM McCLURE (WILL). Not sure where she married him or where they moved to. My Lee Co marriages only go up to 1830-1883. She would have been too young for those records. I would say they got married between 1888-1895. If anyone has records for those dates could you please look for me.... Thanks Milly WARD Piros My Mind Is Like Lightning....One Brilliant Flash and Poooffffffffffffffffff, It's Gone
If anyone has access to Claiborne County Marriages would you please check and see if there is a record in the early 1900's for Nora Young and James Charlie Carter I would tremendously appreciate Thanks don sanford ohno2311@sbcglobal.net
