    1. Re: [TNCLAIBO-L] BILLIE WALKER LIPPS obit info wanted
    2. Steve Smith
    3. There were LIPPS that came to CLAIBORNE County with the SMITH's from CARTER County, around the 1830 period. There was a Jacob LIPPS, from my memory??..., that married into the SMITH family and came here. I can't remember now if he had married a SMITH, or an ELLIOTT. I want to say ELLIOTT. John SMITH married Nancy Anne ELLIOTT in Elizabethton about 1820 and came here to this county about the 1830 period and lived on the Powell River, in Wagon Hollow. His children married from both sides of the river, and my gg grandfather, Absolum Green Berry Smith, married on the Powell Valley side and lived on that side of the river. His farm was on the Dividing Ridge. I own some of the farm he once owned. I want to say that Jacob LIPPS married Catherine ELLIOTT, but I'm at work now and can't check. That is where they lived, however, was down in the Greasy Hollow area, close to the river. Hope this helps. 1. TN Sumpter Family
    2. Gary Brown
    3. Greetings! My name is Stacey Brown, and I am researching the Sumpter family of Claiborne County. They were Virginians who settled in Claiborne County, TN around 1801. Henry and George Sumpter, his son, are listed as some of the first settlers near Fort Butler in Goodspeed's History of Claiborne County. Henry purchased some land at the foot of Powell Mountain and Mulberry Creek and is last listed in Claiborne records circa 1817. My hope is to locate the burial sites of Henry and his wife Agnes. Henry served in the American Revolution as a minuteman. Agnes' family members served in the war as well, and they should not be forgotten. I look forward to chatting with you!!! Stacey E. 1. 1996 Obit - Isaac J Sharp Jr. of Harrogate
    2. The Crazy Book Lady
    3. Greetings all - I wonder if someone with proper access might be able to track down an obituary for Isaac J Sharp Jr.. He died Sept. 21 1996 in Harrogate at the age of 73 according to the SSDI. I'm searching for any children that he may have had and I think an obituary will go a long way toward that end. Many many thanks in advance. Michelle in Texas Michelle M.
