He was born March 31, 1931, in Middlesboro, the son of the late Charlie Owens and Gracie Shoffner Owens. A member of the Binghamtown Baptist Church, he served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as warehouse manager at the Middlesboro Coca-Cola Bottling Works after 43 years, and he served as Bell County Magistrate from 1977 until 1985. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy James "Buck" Owens; and a sister Barbara Owens Turner. He is survived by his wife of 50-years, Lois Irwin Owens; sons, Charles Edward "Chuck" Owens and wife Carolyn Sue of Middlesboro; son Scott Owens of Middlesboro; grandson Josh Owens of Middlesboro; sisters, Bessie Owens Chambers of Louisville, Gaye Owens Ross and husband Bill Ross also of Louisville; brother-in-law, Walter Irwin and wife Beverly of Lavonia, Ga.     3. Lillis Palmer 11/15/2004 Dec. 20, 1912-Nov. 13, 2004 Services have been set for Lillis Palmer, 91, of Monroe, who died Saturday afternoon in her home. She had been in poor health for eight months and seriously ill for two days. Friends may call until 8 tonight today at Bacarella Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Dr. Kenneth Dunn, pastor of First Baptist Church of Monroe, will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Born Dec. 20, 1912, in Claiborne County, Tenn., she was the daughter of Calvin and Cora (Burke) Owens. Surviving are a stepson, Gilbert C. (Janine) Palmer of Monroe; four step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren, and several step-great-great-grandchildren.

Donald D. Niblett officiating. Sheila McBride was born Oct. 21, 1957, in Albuquerque, N.M. She passed from this life on Nov. 3, 2004, at her home in Cookson. Sheila worked as a laboratory technician. She was preceded in death by her mother Lavada (Keck) McBride. Sheila is survived by her father, John Vance and his wife Ann; three sisters, Tamara McBride, Naomi Walters and Charlotte Muniz; two brothers, Johnathan Vance and Billy McBride; stepbrother, Bret Miller; and nine nieces and nephews, Tamarah Johnson, Christina Turman, Craig Walters, Shannon Walters, Kyle Vance, Allie Vance, Madison Vance, Ashley McBride and Billy Ingram.

    2. From the Knoxville News Sentinel 14 Nov 2004 SIMMONS, CLUSTER - age 92, of New Tazewell, Tn. Passed away on Friday, Nov. 12, 2004 at Provena Sacred Heart Home in Avilla, In. He was born in New Tazewell, Tn. on Jan. 4, 1912 to Zee and Sarah (Hurst) Simmons who preceded his death. He married Lillie Mae Ford on Jan. 4, 1931 in New Tazewell and she, also, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son; Rev. Hollis Simmons in 1998; grandson, Randall Fay Ford; brothers, Frank and Otis Simmons; and sisters, Nellie Kelly, P.L. Good and Cleo Davis. He was a tobacco and dairy farmer in Tn. his entire life. He was a charter member and deacon of the MCM Missionary Baptist Church in New Tazewell and attended Harbor of Love Baptist Church in the Kendallville, In. area. Cluster's love of the Holy Scriptures began in his early years and continued throughout his whole life. As a young boy, Cluster's ministry was song leader in his home church and that same lifelong singing ministry continued at Sacred Heart Home with the nursing staff. He is survived by his daughter, Wanda Holton of Kendallville, In; daughter and son-on-law, Irene and John Ford of Wolverine, Mi.; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Brenda Simmons of Virginia Beach, Va.; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren: sisters, Hallie Wilcox and Ollie Meyers both of New Tazewell, Tn.
