Think that would make me a third cousin, to you. Your grand mother, Sarah Day, was my great aunt. She was a sister to my grand father, William Patterson, Day. Can you tell me Whether or not, Colbert Day was related to The Ransom Day, Who was in the Revolutionary War? Also, do you know, if he was related to C, M, Day, who lived in Claiborne, then moved to Missouri and stayed for a few years, then, came bak to Tennessee? I would be very thankful to you if you can answer these questions for me. Earl Shiflet. My email address is, eshiflet6239.aol.com. Hi Earl, Good to find a cousin. Or should I say half-cousin as William Patterson Day was a half brother to my Grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth Day who married William Matthew Faulkner, my Grandfather. I too have wonered about Ransom Day but can find no connection to the Colbert Day Line. Still, though there could be and it just hasn't been found---Nicholas Day, Sr. had thousands of offspring as the following website will attest. http://www.calweb.com/~wally/darke/w-day1.htm Now as to a C.M. Day I am at a loss. Sorry REGARDS COUSIN EARL Warren Tyndale Faulkner

    3. I have received no new updates regarding the status of the book, since I posted this on 2/8/05 (sorry for the repeat, folks): "Around the first part of January, I spoke with Joyce Ramsey, President of the Claiborne County Historical and Genealogical Society, and during our conversation we discussed the status of the new Heritage Book. There have been several delays on the publisher's end, so basically we were stuck in neutral while the publisher was getting their problems all taken care of. Because of the delays, the publisher has had to subcontract much of their work out in order to get caught up with all of their customers they serve. From what Joyce is told me at that time, she and two others were editing and finalizing the text one last time, something they should have been able to do months ago, but again, the publisher's delay, and once the people sub-contracted down in Mississippi get everything back, laid out, prepped and ready to go, the images will then go to North Carolina and the publishing will take place there. I can assure you that Joyce, along with everyone else who has worked on getting this book completed, has been just as frustrated as everyone else is, but this is how things go in the publishing business, and we have absolutely no control over it whatsoever. I'm feel confident however, that the finished product will make it worth the wait, so if everyone would please just be patient, you will hopefully have the new book in your hands very soon." So, I can only assume that everything above is still "in the works". Rome wasn't built in a day, and apparently, so are books as well. ;-) Cheers, Darrell ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, March 04, 2005 10:44 AM Subject: [TNCLAIBO-L] Claiborne County History > Does anybody have any news about when the Claiborne County History Vol > II > will be released? > > Bob Branham > Dallas, TX > (214) 341-4993 > > > ==== TNCLAIBO Mailing List ==== > Please remember....NO FLAMES, NO SOLCITING, VIRUS WARNINGS, JOKES, > POLITICS, ATTACHMENTS, PRAYERS, etc., should be posted to the list. > We are here strictly for exchanging information and genealogy research > on our folks from Claiborne County. >

    3. Hi Betty, I don't know about the tax lists, but I do have a transcript of a Deed gift to his children that Elisha Wallen made in Claiborne County 25 May 1807. It names all his children: Mary Sims, Agness Murry, Winney Davis, Lucey Wallen, Caty Wallen, Judith Wallen and his "two little sons" William Wallen and Elisha Wallen. I'm not directly related to this Elisha, but I am a descendant of Elisha Wallen Sr and his wife Mary Blevins. Hope this helps you some. 2. I am helping a friend of mine work on her family line.  Her grandfather was Benjamin Harrison Cutshall born 9-25-1886 in North Carolina, but he married Uri Mowell in LaFolette, Tennessee.  His siblings are:  Minnie b. 1881, Katherine b. 1883, Bonnie b. 1888, Pender b. 1890, Fred b. 1893, Abner b. 1895, and Paul b. 1899.  Other than that, we have no info on their parents and only direct line on Benjamin.  By chance, is anyone familiar with this line? Do you have anything on the Laban Day b. 1760 Burke Co, North Carolina and whose son Ambrose moved on to Morgan twp, Mercer Co, Missouri where he died in 04 Mar 1889? Ambrose had a brother, James Day, who was two years older. They moved together thru Indiana and Illinois and then I lost track of James after 1870. Was Colbert Day a child of James by any chance? Or was there another brother traveling with the other two on their moves? I suspected a brother or nephew....my notes are as follows: "A third Day, Elijah, was living near them, and was the only other Day in Fulton Co, Illinois in the 1840 census. 1. William Shoop.
    2. I'm trying to find information on William Shoop from Claiborne County TN. He married Nancy Manerva Russell in 1891 in Claiborne Co. and I last have him living with his son Marion in the 1930 census for Claiborne Co. I need to find when he died so I can get a death certificate for him. I believe he is my gg-grandfather. My William Shoop was born in 1854 in Morgan Co., KY. where his parents lived a few years on their journey from Virginia to Missouri. William's father died in 1862 in MO. and the family moved back to Morgan Co., KY to be near relatives. William married Amanda Lucinda Hurst in 1873 in Knox Co., KY. I have them in the 1880 census still in Knox Co. but Amanda reportedly died about 1885. I can't find William in KY after that but in 1900 I find a William Shoop in Claiborne Co., TN. and I'm trying to find if they are the same person. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Jerry Philpot.

    2. William Hurst
    3. Hi Debra and all, I would certainly like to know the surname of Absalom's wife Elizabeth and to have another set of 4th great grandparents. A couple of years ago someone referred me to a McNew family book for the proof. I found the book, in the Roanoke Library I think; but I don't think Absalom was even mentioned. Gwen Hurst once told me that the McNew name was not likely for Elizabeth. I open-minded about this, but I'm not ready to add the name without some evidence.
