Courtney Tompkins <tompkin@c2i2.com>: >To Mr. and Mrs. Binkley were born these children: Isabel J. B., Martha >A., Mildred M. and William M. Mildred died May 15, 1879. Our subject >and wife are members of the Christian Church and he is a Republican. >His parents were Blackstone and Rebecca (Felts) Binkley. They were born >in Tennessee and North Carolina in 1804 and 1807, respectively, and >were married in 1825. November 10, 1863, the father was taken from home >by guerrillas and shot dead. Martha Ann was my great-grandmother, and was married to George Washington Harris..if my memories serves me correctly. (My book is at work). I'm really curious about the "the father was taken from home by guerrillas and shot dead"..what guerrillas? Kena159@aol.com: >There are other published works that state that certain Binkleys in >Cheatham Co. came from Germany, even Binkleys who were born well into >the 19th century. Do you think people could mean.."of German descent" since Christian Binkley's wives were German? Reba, I'm going to try to call my Aunt Lucille. She and Aunt Maryann hunted down what I think you are referring too, the Binkley cemetary. I'm not sure since Jim says it's in view of Hwy 49. I recall part of their story was going "way back" and having trouble finding it, but it's one where one of my great-great(??)grandfathers is buried. I think there is a reference in the book I have at work on their trip to the cemetary. Maybe it's another one..I didn't think it was that close to Hwy 49 but in that general proximity. There is the likilihood that we are talking about two different cemetaries but I know Binkley's were in the one they visited. But then there could be Binkley's in a bunch of cemetaries. :-) lori
