The Hollis' came into Tenn first by way of Sumner and Mont. Issac, James , John , William were all there before 1798, They were among the first with the Donelson's and Robertsons. My wife is a once removed Hollis of the Cheap Hill , Cheatham Co. TN Hollis. She decends form John M Hollis (son of Isaac, son of James , who was the son of William. John M Hollis b 1796 married Mary_____, b abt 1801; Their Children: William Ralph(K) Hollis,Isaac Hollis, J. Henry Hollis; Jane Hollis; Andrew Hollis; Mary Elizabeth Hollis; and Johnathan Hollis; I am tracing both Isaac and J. Henry Hollis of which my wife decends. I have much information and would love to have much more. I have about 1000 names in data base for Hollis' in the four county area. I lived for many years in the West Cheatham area and know many of the present day Hollis Clan, even those who claim no kin. (even though they are!!!) I still have one line unconnected with mine, that is a family I call the James Travis Hollis line .James was born in 1866 but I can't connect him with mine even though they lived near each other.
