    1. [TNCHEATH-L] Uriah Samuel STACK Family
    2. Edward Carter
    3. This has already gone to Jim, Joyce and Sue by e-mail, but I forgot to copy the list for any other researchers who are following the exchange or who may want to follow it later. My great-grandmother was Florence Virginia Stack (1861-1916) who was married to Henry Warren Baggett (1853-1933) of Montgomery County. She was the daughter of Sarah Shearon and Uriah Samuel Stack. Known siblings include Nan, Mary and Lee. I haven't done any research on this line yet, so I was excited to see the surname appear on the Cheatham County roots list. I have information about the descendants of the this union, but almost nothing about Stack ancestors. I would love to hear from anyone who can coach me in the proper direction should I begin work on this line. It appears that Uriah Samuel Stack is the son of Barbara (?) and Adam Stack. [The following was not in my original e-mail] In addition, a friend pulled an 1850 Montgomery County census entry for me showing Jacob, Uriah, David, George and William listed after Adam and Barbara. It is assumed that they are all sons. Also listed in the 1850 census with this family are Catherine, age 22 and Elizabeth, age 10. Both were born in Tennessee; their ages are consistent with the birth order of the boys in the family. They are listed after the male children. It is unclear whether they are daughters or a daughter-in-law and granddaughter of Adam Stack. A second look at the census will give a hint as to whether the enumerator consistently segregated boys and girls when listing children. Finally, I think there are probably other children living outside the household in 1850. Although possible, it would be outside the norm for Adam and Barbara to have waited until they were in their thirties to start a family. It is always possible that this is a second marriage; however, it would still be likely that there are other children from the first marriage. Does anyone have estate records, or other sources to confirm this notion. I would appreciate your comments. Thanks, Edward Carter 821 East Burton Street Murfreesboro, Tennessee 37130 ecrb@msn.com
