    1. [TNCHEATH-L] Re: Neal Family
    2. Hey, everyone...am forwarding a copy of an email I received from Marge Currin (mccurrin@bellsouth.net) concerning her Neal family. Is there anyone out there who might be able to help her or give her some leads? Thanks....Reba In a message dated 5/6/00 10:46:34 AM Central Daylight Time, mcurrin@bellsouth.net writes: << Reba, I had found Jan about a year ago. She is a generation younger than I - so her g-grandfather Granville Neal was the brother of my grandfather Irving Monroe Neal. We also found a descendant of their sister Lizzie who married a Smith. When you transcribed Bethlehem Cemetery, I sent the URL to Jan - as Granville and Rhoda Neal were listed in your data. I send Jan a copy of anything I find. We just haven't found anything on the Neal family before Cheatham - except I found the marriage record of Thomas B. Neal and Victoria Blanks in Jefferson County, Illinois. From what my grandfather, Irving Neal, told us - the family was quite upset over the Civil War. The Cheatham census records show that Thomas B. Neal was born in Kentucky, but we have never found where. Also, we have not been able to trace his father and the rest of the family who apparently stayed in Illinois after the war. The Blanks family showed up in Montgomery County for some time, but we haven't found where in Virginia the father was born. A cousin Joanne Sullivan has moved to Ashland City now - and she is interested in the genealogy group there. I hope I can get her to see if she can find some records there - tax, court or whatever - that will give us more data on the family. I really appreciate all the work you have done which helps us all. When I lived in Nashville and had all the resources for family history available, I didn't take time to get any data. Since 1958 I have lived in Daytona Beach, Florida. There is almost nothing here that I can use for references. Orlando has a great library, but the traffic situation there makes it impossible for me to get there. Thank you so much for your interest.
