I do not know if they had any children. Thanks, Nola ______________________________ >> Hi list!- It's great to see so much activity on this list again, it had gotten so quiet for a while! Anyway, my name is Stella and I live in So. CA with my mother's entire ancestor line in TN - Cheatham, Sumner, Davidson, Maury & Robertson Cos. primarily. The Cheatham Co. surnames that I am researching are: POOL/POOLE - currently have information that shows my gggrandparents, John & George Ann "Tennessee" POOL were residing in Ashland City, Cheatham Co. in 1868 - which is also the year that they were married; down through my grandfather's [James C. POOLE b. 9-24-1911 d. 6-27-1977 in San Diego, San Diego Co., CA] birth, also in Ashland City, to Richard Washington [son of John & Tennessee] & Birdy Mae DYCE [the daughter of Margrett JACKSON DYCE] POOL/POOLE. What I would really love at this point is ANY information at all available on Richard & Birdy & their generation, which is a huge gap in my research. I am assuming that they [Richard at least] resided in Ashland City pretty much their entire lifetime but am having a difficult time in finding any documentation or evidence of it. My mother claims that her grandfather was fairly heavily involved with the local Church of Christ in that area [may have been a deacon or some thing along those lines] but again, I find no mention of his name in any of the church histories that I have found. ABERNATHY - My grandfather's [James C. POOLE-as above] older sister, Ethel Mae POOLE b. abt 1909 in Cheatham Co. d. abt 1985-1990 married James Clifford ABERNATHY and this couple moved to Nashville, Davidson Co. where GUncle "Clifford" was a detective / chief of police with the Nashville P.D. for at least 20 years. I have recently learned that he passed away in March of this year and would love to be able to contact any of the surviving 3 of 4 children that they had. His obituary listed them as: Jackie JOHNSON, James "Bill" ABERNATHY & Debi ? . BINKLEY - I don't have a lot of information on the BINKLEY line other than that it is connected through the ABERNATHY line. I think that either James "Clifford" ABERNATHY either had a sister that married a BINKLEY or his mother was a BINKLEY. This information was given to me by another researcher that contacted me after finding a posting I had made regarding the ABERNATHY line, but she did state that this line was fairly large and that they had a history of residing in both Cheatham and Davidson Cos. ALLEN - My grandfather's only other sibling, a younger sister; Lorene "Reenie" POOLE b. 3-17-1913 in Cheatham Co. d. 8-1981 in Piketon, Pike Co., OH was married three times, the first time to Alvilda Porter ALLEN b. 2-6-1910 in UNK. d. 4-1956 in Columbia, Maury Co., TN, who was a business owner in Columbia and they had three children; Richard "Dicky" Dean ALLEN, and twins Danny Neal & Dee Ann ALLEN. I believe that her second marriage may have been to an Elkin GARFINKLE [ this name is listed as a guardian ad litem for the ALLEN children in a 1958 Davidson Co. Court case concerning the estate of Alvilda Porter ALLEN] who if this is correct, was 20 years older than she and from what I understand, it was a short lived marriage due to some improprieties with inheritances that they all should have received. The third and final time she married was to an Unk. HORN and nothing further is known abt that surname. I hope that I haven't bored y'all to tears with the length of this posting but I could really use some help with these lines and I don't have the resources to get to Cheatham Co., TN [although I would dearly love to] to do the research for myself. I do however, have access to CA vital records and information and am currently providing on a volunteer basis, lookups, transcriptions & copies of obituaries, death certificates, marriage certificates and other recorded documents from the Riverside & some surrounding Cos. in CA and I would be more than happy to provide these services to TN based researchers with CA ancestors/relatives in exchange for the same. I must say that alot of the documentation that I have received on my family has been located and provided to me by some very helpful and kind people that I have met through the internet and I truly appreciate all that has been done for me already. My hat is off to all of the wonderful Rootsweb volunteers and others who are doing whatever they can to be sure that all genealogists have free access to the records and documentation concerning their ancestry. Ok, I've exhausted any and all who made it through this entire message I'm sure so I think I'll step away from the podium and let someone else have a turn. Thanks for listening and good luck in your own continued genealogy research! Sincerely, Stella BULL4FISHZ@aol.com IBSSG & RootsWeb Donor+ Riverside Co. CA lookup volunteer and other things we won't mention here..lol
