    3. I am searching for and any information on my gg grandfather, Marcus BOYD, born in Tennessee ca 1822. He married Sarah Jane BALLENTINE in Montgomery, TN on 9 Feb. 1850. Children John C. b. Nov/Dec 1850 TN Daughter b. 15 Aug. 1853 Trigg Co. KY (died at birth) Margaret E. b. 16 Aug. 1854 Trigg Co. KY William L. b. 9 Apr. 1855 McCracken Co. KY Charles b. 21 May 1857 McCracken Co. KY Luther b. 1 Sept. 1861 McCracken Co. KY Sarah probably died shortly after Luther was born. I do not know where or when Marcus died. I have only their marriage record, the birth records and the 1860 census of McCracken Co. My great grandfather, John C., married Nancy Hall 22 Jan.1877 in Montgomery Co. TN. John and Nancy and two of their children, Edward Lee and Andrew Thomas, are listed on the 1880 census of Cheatham Co. They returned to the Lovelaceville area of Ballard/McCracken Co. ca 1882 and John died there the winter of 1887-88. I have found two other Marcus BOYDs; one married Eliza HAMILTON in Williamson Co. TN in 1825 and later moved to MO and the other married a Margaret BOYD in Trigg Co. KY in 1857, neither appear to be directly connected to my gg grandfather. Any information would be most appreciated. Ed BOYD <ed.boyd @mcione.com>

    3. I want to share with you the Geographic Names Information System (GNIS), which contains information about almost 2 million physical and cultural geographic features in the United States. Probably a lot of you are already familiar with this site. For those of you who are not, I think you will find the site really helpful. To get an idea of how the GNIS works go the the site and follow the instructions below. You can put in any state and any county. After you do the cemetery search, you might try putting in a surname of family you have in the county at "Feature Name" and see if there are any hits. Leave "Feature Type" blank. http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html At "State or Territory Name" choose Tennessee, at "County Name" type in Davidson, at "Feature Type" choose Cemetery. That is all you need to enter. Scroll to the bottom and click on "Send Query". You will find links to this site and many other useful web sites at the Metropolitan Archives of Nashville and Davidson Co. web page: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/3661/ Debie

    3. Searching for information on the following: Robert L. RYMAN (b. about 1870) married Mollie (unknown surname) (b. about 1877 in Arkansas) before 1897. They are found in the neighboring Davidson County census in 1900 with son Herman P. RYMAN (b. abt. 1897) and boarder and co-worker Chas. LOVELL. Mollie died on February 21, 1915, in Ashland City (Cheatham County) and is buried at the CROUCH graveyard. Was Mollie a CROUCH? Who were her parents and siblings, and who were Robert's parents and siblings? Delilah RYMAN married J.P. VICK on December 30, 1879, in Cheatham County. Who is Delilah and who are her siblings and parents? I have a lot of RYMAN information I can share. My ancestors are RYMANs. I would REALLY appreciate some help with these individuals. If anyone has access to Cheatham County censuses, I would really appreciate lookups on the RYMANS also. Jeanne

    3. Links to the following site and many useful sites for TN researchers can be found on the links page for the Metro Archives of Nashville and Davidson Co,. web site. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/3661/ Geographic Names Information System Data Base Query Form at: http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html This is an excellent site to search for geographic features such as creeks, towns, cemeteries. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS), developed by the USGS in cooperation with the U.S. Board on Geographic Names (BGN), contains information about almost 2 million physical and cultural geographic features in the United States. A search of Capuchin yielded the following results for TN and KY. Capuchin Creeks in Whitley County, KY and in Scott County, TN and a Post Office (historical) in Scott County, TN. I assume historical means the post office no longer exists, but do not know this for certain. Even though the sought after cemetery is not in the GNIS data base, many others are. Debie Cox
