The East Tennessee Historical Society just sent me this. If you live in the area of these two TV stations try to watch this program. It's great and very informative! Chip Ancestors is returning to the airwaves. The East Tennessee Historical Society (ETHS) is sponsoring the long-awaited sequel to the popular PBS series, Ancestors, on East Tennessee's PBS stations, WSJK and WKOP. The series will air 11:30 a.m. on Saturday mornings from July 22 through October 14 on WSJK-TV (Channel 2) and WKOP-TV (Channel 15) in the Knoxville/East Tennessee area. The Ancestors series looks at how records such as census, probate, vital, military and immigration, can provide important information about our ancestors' lives. It shows viewers how and where to find these records and how to use them. Ancestors follows the personal stories of individuals whose search has led them to a discovery of their heritage and a greater understanding of themselves. In addition to the television series, ETHS will be co-sponsoring a series of informative genealogy sessions throughout the East Tennessee community during the show's run. The sessions will vary in content with volunteers from ETHS and the LDS Church providing instruction on topics such as computer genealogy, British Isles, land records, genealogy for children, and other topics. Dates, times, and locations for the sessions will be posted on the ETHS web site at www.east-tennessee-history.org The web site will be updated with a current schedule on Monday, July 24.
