    3. Being 62, ancient, an old fossil, I do remember a bunch of things. Not long ago, I took my grandson who is five, to a cold, cold, creek to get his feet wet. While there, I happened to remember the "Waterwheels" we used to make. I found a cornstalk, cut some slits, for the paddles, (also made of the trimmed hulls from cornstalks,) cut two forked sticks to hold the contraption up, and lo and behold, it still works! I got nearly as excited as he did. Also made him a tractor! You take a spool, notch one end to hold a little stick which is shorter than the spool's diameter, then get a stick which is maybe 1/2 longer than the diameter of the spool, soap both ends of the spool (lubrication) and attach a short rubber band between them. Wind the the contraption up, turn it loose on the floor or table, and watch er' go! You can use your imagination and make them with lug wheels (notch the spool lips) etc. These were some of the toys made by "Pore", not "Poor" people. There is a difference. Gosh, whats this fool list going to do to me! Bill
