Susannah Fry, a widow, is found in the 1900 TN census living w/son-in-law Wm. Campbell & her dau. Mary [Mary Ann Fry] Campbell. Susannah is 99 years old and her Fry surname is erroneously transcribed as "GOMEZ!" I have made the correction on the ancestry.com online census record but the "Gomez" is still there! [William C Campbell who m. Mary Ann Fry, dau. of Nicholas & Susannah Burns Fry, was a son of Thomas Badie Campbell & Mary Unknown.] Nicholas and Susannah's dau. Elizabeth Fry m. Albert E Campbell who was killed in the Civil War...he is thought to have died at the Limestone Massacre. Albert and Elizabeth had three children: Elizabeth C Campbell m. James Davis; Thomas Badie Campbell m. "Lizzie" Elizabeth Sneed; & Jackson Elijah Campbell m. Adoline D Birchfield. After Albert's death, Elizabeth Fry Campbell [dau. of Nicholas Fry and Susannah Burns] married 2nd Wm. Davis, widower of Mary Elizabeth Woodby. Elizabeth C Campbell, dau. of Elizabeth Fry & Albert E Campbell m. James Davis. [James Davis' parents were Amos Davis and Martha Gray. Amos was a Pvt. 1st TN Heavy Artillery, Caruthers Battery, in the Confederacy, was captured at Vicksburg,MS. He was transferred to Federal Military hospital, Ft. Morton, IN and d. POW on 19 Aug 1863 of typhoid.] I have a copy of a picture of James Davis' wife, Elizabeth C Campbell Davis, who was a granddaughter of Nicholas Fry and Susannah Burns Fry. There are quite a few women in the picture. However the only one identified is that of Elizabeth C Campbell Davis. James Davis' parents were Amos Davis and Martha Gray]. Amos and his brother Wm. Davis [who m. Mary Elizabeth Woodby & 2nd. Elizabeth Fry Campbell] were sons of Charles Davis and his 1st wife Patsy Bennett. After Patsy Bennett Davis' death, Charles Davis m. Martha Denton.] Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
