I am going to make a trip to East TN sometime as I have hit the wall on my internet research, and this certainly sounds like a good place to start. My great grandmother, Nellie Swiney, was born in Carter Co, and her father John and grandfather James were both married in Washington Co. John had a brother Noah who moved to Sullivan Co (Bristol) so I bet I still have a lot of distant relatives in the area.
