This is not my line... Elizabethton Star, Elizabethton, TN, Saturday, September 7, 1929, page 1 Earl Culbert Finds Mother Earl CULBERT is with his mother for the first time in eight years, today, "just as happy as a coon," according to sheriff J. M. Moreland with whom the lad spent yesterday searching for his mother, who he had not seen since he was four years of age. The neatly-dressed youth of thirteen was brought to Elizabethton by a Miss Brock, employee of the Tennessee State Orphans' home at Nashville, Thursday in an effort to find his mother, "the thing that I want most all," according to the youth's own statement. When Earl was just four years of age his father died and his mother was taken sick and had to go to a hospital. First, Earl was taken to the County home. Later he was removed to the Orphans' home from where he was two years later adopted by a wealthy family in Benton county. He recently left his home with his adopted parents and went back to the Orphans' home and asked the Miss Brock, whom he said used to take a lot of interest in him while he was at the home, to help him locate his mother and brother, Roy. All that he knew was that he was sent to the home from Elizabethton and for that reason he was brought here by Miss Brock, who enlisted the aid of Sheriff Moreland, who, after considerable searching found the boy's mother. Mrs. Mollie Mysinger, now the wife of Bob Mysinger, Soldiers' Home inmate, who lives off Johnson City pike near Milligan College was late yesterday found to be the mother of the lad who, "wanted to find his mother more than he wanted anything else." The mother was in Elizabethton at the time that the youth located her home, soon after the mother returned home, she with her son returned to Elizabethton and got his clothes from the Sheriff with whom he had spent the night before.
