    3. Ttacey: Thanks, but you are in the wrong war. I really appreciate your reply but I could care less about the people who fired on the U.S. Fl;ag at Fort Sumpter. I am in the Rev. War. Try to be in the 1st group, there is less competition there. -----Original Message----- From: Betsy estepp Sent: Sunday, December 21, 2008 4:20 PM To: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com, tncarter@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TNCARTER] Eighth Tennessee cavalry Hi, If you can tell me if there was an Adam Campbell in this unit and it was Union, I have a picture of him in his uniform and your more than welcome to it but he was out of Cocke county. I don't know if that matters but if you can find out, I will send you a copy of the photo. 3. There was not a "Tennessee" unit of any kind in the Revolutionary. They would have been a "Western' North Carolina unit at best. Many militia men who fought in the war migrated to the area that was western North Carolina from other states such as Virginia, Maryland, the Carolinas, etc. After Tennessee was formed in 1796 there were militia units.
