I'm looking for the death of James M. Cross/ alias James M. Smith. He fought in the Civil War as a Confederate. By all accounts he died during the war, but I haven't found where or when. His birth year was about 1819 and at the time of his death he was married to his second wife, Eliza Jane Foster. She applied for a widows pension in 1890 and was refused. The pension states he was a private in the 13 Regiment, Tennessee. I believe his son Williams Henry Cross/ Smith was in the war and may have died serving, too. Haven't been able to locate them since 1860 census. Thank You, Joan Williams, FL.
