Author: MilfordKirby Surnames: Miller, Kirby Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.tennessee.counties.carter/1209/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The family of John and Rhoda Miller appear in the 1860 and 1870 censuses for Carter County TN. Rhoda died between 1870 and 1880, and John is listed as widowed in the 1880 census for Carter County TN. In the 1900 census, John appears and has been remarried, since 1883, to spouse Sarah J., with no offspring of the second marriage. From the 1860, 1870 and 1880 censuses, John and Rhoda appear to have had at least six children born after 1849: David, Sarah, Elizabeth, Daniel, Mary and Evie. I am trying to determine whether this John and Rhoda of Carter County are the same John K. Miller and Rhoda Kirby who were married in Blount County, TN, on October 23, 1849, and who appear in the 1850 census for Pulaski County, Virginia. Rhoda Kirby of Blount County was a daughter of my 4th-great grandparents, James Kirby and Lydia Ayres Kirby, of Blount County, TN. I have a fair amount of information on the decendents of James and Lydia's son Richard, from whom I am descended, but almost no i! nformation on the descendants of Rhoda. I would appreciate any response from descendants or others with knowledge of John K. Miller and Rhoda Kirby Miller. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [TNCARTER] Daniel Stout's Will

    3. My 2nd great grandfather, Wright Moreland was Administrator of the will of Daniel Stout in Carter County, Tennessee in the early 1850's. I am trying to find a copy of the administration papers of the will as I think Wright Moreland's wife, Margaret, may be related to Daniel. When I visited the Carter Courthouse a few years ago, I found a large folder for Daniel's estate. Unfortunately, the folder was completely empty and I could no locate any contents. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to locate the contents of Daniel Stout's estate papers? Note: There were two Wright Morelands in Carter County at the time. My ancestor was Wright, the son of Charles Moreland and the other Wright was the son of William Moreland. Granville Stout, the son of Daniel, married my Wright Moreland's oldest daughter, Mary Adoline Moreland. My Wright Moreland and a group left Carter County about 1853 and moved West. Any help would be appreciated. Eldon J. Edgin 14908 Woodbriar Drive Dallas, Texas 75248 Phone: (972) 991-4891 eedgin@sbcglobal.net or eldon@edgin.org
