Dan Ellis' book, Thrilling Adventures of Daniel Ellis, was published in April, 1867. I have found reviews in Northern publications, such as the New York Times, The Atlantic Monthly, and Harper's New Monthly Magazine, but nothing from the local perspective. I have seen an announcement in a Jonesborough newspaper ("New Book." Union Flag, April 26, 1867, p.?), stating, "As soon as we read the book, we shall give our readers a more extended notice of the merits of the work," but I have found no follow-up. Has anyone seen contemporary Southern reactions to Thrilling Adventures of Daniel Ellis? Many thanks, as usual, Allen Allen W. Ellis Professor of Library Services W.
