I am in the process of writing a scholarly book about Captain Daniel Ellis, the Carter County Civil War figure, and I am issuing this call for anyone who may be able to help me to locate obscure information, images, artifacts, and so forth. Lots of genealogical/cemetery information there, too. My goal is to write a complete, fair, and balanced account of Ellis' life. I recently spoke with a fellow who is adamant that Ellis was a liar and a scoundrel, and that no serious scholar would take him seriously.
